  1. Congratulations, Michelle, on this important milestone! And congratulations to Barn Again Home, which couldn’t have been luckier than to have a fellow Cajun promoter-of-the-arts who knows what’s involved in pursuing one’s creative dream as the author of this feature article.

    I very much enjoyed hearing about the community aspect of Kilcullen’s approach. Reminds me of the story of Virginia Lee Burton (author of Mike Mulligan and the Steam Shovel and other children’s classics), who organized a local ladies art guild in Glouchester, MA. Over time, the guild became famous for its arts and craft fabric designs based on local places and activities. Some are now shown in museums!

    And yet it was the collegiality and opportunity for personal expressiveness that apparently was the greatest reward. It’s amazing what a little community art effort can accomplish. Thanks for making us aware of this local gem.
