HSPT Prep Course

The HSPT is given in late November or early December. Are you ready?

The High School Placement Test (or the SSAT) is a requirement for application to many of the ADW Catholic high schools or area private high schools.

Taking a prep course is a good way to prepare more formally for this 2.5-hour timed exam. The exam tests cognitive and basic skills in five different areas of two core subjects: English and math.

In the HSPT Prep Course, students will systematically work through the five sections of the HSPT using the Kaplan 2016 “Seventh” Edition HSPT Prep Book (student to provide his/her own copy prior to first session).

The prep course includes a review of a curated PowerPoint developed over fifteen years of guiding 8th graders through HSPT Prep, sharing proven test-taking strategies, review of the quantitative and mathematics sections, review of the vocabulary and grammar sections, and decoding of reading comprehension questions. Students will also participate in review activities via Google Classroom and Quizlet.
